Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterus. It can present in different ways including but not limited to pelvic pain, bowel and bladder symptoms, pain with intercourse, fatigue and infertility. Dr Travis has completed further training through an Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Fellowship specialising in advanced laparoscopic surgery. He takes a comprehensive, individualised, and evidence-based approach to managing endometriosis, which may include lifestyle modification, medication management, fertility support and use of a multi-disciplinary allied health team. If surgery is recommended he as an AGES fellow has the highest accreditation for gynaecological surgery in Australia and is able to perform complex surgical management, striving for excisional treatment, to achieve the best outcomes for you.
-
Adenomyosis is a condition where the tissue that normally lines the uterus (endometrium) grows into the muscular wall of the uterus (myometrium). This can cause the uterus to enlarge and lead to significant symptoms, such as pain, heavy and abnormal periods. Dr Travis takes a holistic and individualisd approach to its management through reviewing lifestyle modifications, use of medications or surgery.
-
Fibroids are a common growth in the uterus that, depending on their size and location, can cause symptoms like heavy bleeding, pelvic pain or pressure symptoms, or fertility issues. As an AGES specialist, Dr Travis can manage fibroids using medical treatments like hormonal therapy, radiological options such as uterine artery embolisation, and minimally invasive surgical procedures like laparoscopic myomectomy (key-hole removal of the fibroid/s) or laparoscopic hysterectomy (key-hole removal of the uterus), tailoring the approach based on your symptoms, fertility goals, and overall health.
-
Pelvic pain can be highly debilitating and impact significantly on your quality of life. Dr Travis has extensive experience managing pelvic pain, having a strong interest in conditions such as endometriosois and adenomyosis. He has worked in dedicated persistent pelvic pain units and takes an individualised, comprehensive and compassionate approach to management, often with a multi-disciplinary team. After a thorough assessment, diagnosing possible underlying causes, a collaborative approach is taken in planning your care. Dr Travis’s goal is to provide relief through effective treatments and a holistic framework in a supportive environment, where you feel heard, validated and empowered in your decision making for your health.
-
Ovarian cysts are very common and may vary in their type, size, symptoms and impact on your health and fertility. For cysts that surgical require removal, I specialise in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery (key-hole) to safely excise the cyst while preserving ovarian function when required. His approach prioritises patient-centered care, balancing symptom relief, your fertility considerations, and long-term reproductive health.
-
Dr Travis takes a personalised and tailored approach in managing menstrual abnormalities based on your symptoms, fertility goals, and your overall health goals. For PCOS management, options focus on lifestyle modifications, period management and counseling on fertility and your overall health. His approach is holistic and collaborative in nature, providing comprehensive assessment and empowering you with options for making decisions for your health.
-
Colposcopy is a procedure used to closely examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva for abnormal cells, usually after an abnormal Pap smear. As a specialist, Dr Travis performs colposcopy using a high-powered microscope (colposcope) to assess the cervix under magnification. During the procedure, a special solution to highlight abnormal areas is applied and, if necessary, a small biopsy is taken for further testing. The procedure is quick, generally well-tolerated, and performed in the clinic. His approach ensures patients feel comfortable and informed throughout, with clear follow-up plans based on the results to guide further management.
-
